Megger TDAcompact Loss Factor Analyzer

The Megger TDAcompact is a portable analyzer designed to measure capacitance and tanδ (dissipation factor). It is primarily used for evaluating the epoxy-mica insulation in rotating machinery. Additionally, this device is suitable for testing oil-paper insulation systems and is particularly effective for mass-impregnated cables.

Measuring the dissipation factor (tanδ) is a conventional technique used to evaluate the state of an insulation system. This method primarily assesses the overall condition of the insulation, in contrast to partial discharge analysis, which targets specific flaws that cause discharge activity. Consequently, tanδ measurements are especially relevant for insulation systems that are relatively resistant to partial discharge effects.
